the good ol' man up there has been kind, and my wish he has granted. i have my lens!
of course, in that image i photoshop-ed away the background.

a few days back, marcus lim and i went to take pictures at the fireworks festival. it was packed as hell, and the show only lasted half an hour, but it was great.
however, i am amazed at how courteous people can be when it gets that crowded. some man stepped on my foot, and never even looked back to say sorry, even though i said 'eh, hello, my bloody foot la' quite loudly. or maybe he just could not grasp the word 'sorry' well enough in any language due to a serious lack in brain capacity. for that, i pity him.

and some two days ago, the gang and i celebrated choojiahan's birthday at the botanical gardens, and it was jolly great fun, even though we celebrated at the carpark. yes, the carpark. blame the rain. maybe that made it even more memorable than if it were held at another location. but oh, some of the looks we got.
we certainly hope not to appear on Stomp.

i hope to be blogging soon. goodbye. :)

i haven't posted in quite a while, and i really have nothing to write about today, but i did manage to find an old post intended for my previous blog. here it is:

'Yes my blog is dead. Yes I have not even looked at it since god knows when. But I guess it’s back, because I’m back, I guess.

I write from onboard a plane, and I am on the way home; after a three-day trip to New York. I’ve been traveling quite a bit in these few months, first to Sydney in the beginning of the year, then to Osaka, and finally to new York, which I believe is the last of my vacations as school starts in a week. School is becoming a rather terrifying prospect. Nevertheless, this post will be long, even though I can’t really remember how Sydney was, except that there were numerous bikini clad, pretty young women, walking around on the streets. Osaka was hospitable but cold (no pun intended), and there were no cherry blossoms in sight, only plum blossoms, which to me are just not as good. I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Sydney and Osaka though. However, the highlight would have to be New York. It was one of those holidays you would remember for a very long time, one of those that left you feeling like crap when the plane took off. Smoking manholes, yellow cabs, police car/fire engine/ ambulance sirens, car horns and busy streets with bare, brick-walled buildings. Just like in the movies. It’s a fantastic place, where the food is unhealthy, everyone has pearly whites, the subways stink, the shopping is great, and the people are quite nice. So here are my days in New York.

Day 1

The plane lands in the morning, and it’s about 5 degrees celcius outside. But I didn’t really care for the cold, because I had arrived in New York for the first time in my life. We claimed our bags, and queued for a yellow cab. There’s another first, a New York city yellow cab ride. The first day was to be rather aimless, but that didn’t bother me, because I was busy trying to keep track of all the exotic cars i was seeing (including some that don't exist in Singapore). That seems to me like a good first impression of the place. It was rather weird getting used to the time zone though, but I managed the first day. We skipped lunch and went to Macy’s, where I did not buy anything but a mocha from Starbucks, which proved to be great. Lunch was at Chinatown in Canal street (got my I <3 NY t-shirt there for US$5!), and dinner was also Chinese food, which made no sense; going to New York for Chinese food.

Day 2

Woke up extremely early, had breakfast at this diner near the hotel called the Applejack. The walls were lined with pictures of celebrities and their autographs, although I highly doubt any one of them had even stepped into that diner. But I’m nitpicking, because the food was great. After breakfast, we headed for more ‘shopping’. This time I DID buy something, though. We also went to Trump tower! Bloody cool building. Actually, let me rephrase that. The Gucci store there was cool. But the tower still looked great from the outside. We didn’t bother going up the Empire State building, because it was raining and we didn’t see the point. We visited central park too. Actually to be honest I can’t really say we visited central park, because it’s usually closed, so we saw it from the outside. Not bad, this central park, with its semi-dead trees and cool sculptures. Lunch was pizza, which was out of this world. Not to worry, I didn’t gobble down an entire pizza, but a couple of slices, and desert was Krispy Kreme donuts. An original glazed and a chocolate glazed. At this point, I’m feeling a tinge of jealousy, although from where I’m not entirely sure. Hahaha. We took more trains and walked more, and finally it was time for dinner, which was the crappiest Japanese food I ever ate. After dinner, we visited Times Square, which was the most spectacular neon scenery I have ever seen in my entire life. It was cold as hell, and I wasn’t really prepared for the cold, but I didn’t really feel it there. Day 2 ended on a high note. Really high.

Day 3

The last day arrived, and breakfast was a ½ pound double-cheeseburger meal from Wendy’s. Once again, there was more walking about to be done, and more train traveling. Walking is not an easy task in New York, and we had to walk maybe tens of kilometers a day, and if I were in the mood for exaggeration, I would have said that each of my legs are now about the width of my torso. No such mood today. Lunch this time was REAL Japanese food, which was great, but once again pointless. I know, I keep talking about food, but I guess I live to eat. I do not, however, like airplane food. It absolutely sucks. Maybe that’s why I’m trying to remember what real food I ate, and not recall whatever airplane food I ate on the way there and back. I digress. After packing up and taking a short nap, we got ready for the flight, and took a bus to Newark, New Jersey, which was where the airplane would leave for Singapore on an 18-hour non-stop flight. As the bus left New York city, it passed some of the places we had been during the short visit, including Times Square. And when the bus finally left the city, I caught a final glimpse of the New York city skyline, which was incredibly breathtaking. I guess that last tour of New York on the bus contributed to that crappy feeling I experienced as the plane took off. And so here I am, two hours from arrival, blogging as the airplane flies over Thailand. Quite a cool airplane, this. We even flew over the North Pole!

Overall, I think this short, three-day trip to NYC was an absolute revelation. Everyone seeks to escape the hustle and bustle all the time, but if I ever lived in New York, I doubt I’ll ever see a point in trying to escape.

Prior to this trip, I had said that I would never want to live in America. Hmmmm.'

there you go. enjoy reading! goodbye.

MY BLOG IS FINALLY FUNCTIONING NORMALLY.
thanks Angella, for doing the html work, and Marcus, for uploading the images on photobucket.

besides my dysfunctional blog finally working, i'm glad to say that marketing is over! i soon, this whole semester will be over, and i'll be able to clear my 21.4GB (?!) Trash Can. yes, i know i'm kiasu. don't judge me. however, maybe, just maybe, some small part of us will miss this semester, even though it was (and still is?) VERY shitty. anyway, i guess i'll take things in it's stride for now.

oh, and I NEED MONEY. donations are welcome. minimum of $5 please!

went out with the gang today after school. saw many exotic vehicles, had lots of fun and generally made lots of noise. good times.
okay, i think i MAY have sounded like a nostalgic old man there.

and before this post goes into the SEVERE verbal diarrhoea stage, i shall conclude. goodbye.
